We conducted rapid qualitative research with healthcare workers (HCWs and CHVs) and community members in Kisumu and Tukana to better understand their current perceptions and behaviours with regards to the COVID vaccine, as well as their current sources of
information and the types of messaging they are receiving. The outcome of our approach is a series of concrete communication strategies, designed in partnership with users and informed by our expertise in design, behavioural science and immunisation. These communication strategies will be shared with both county and national level stakeholders and where appropriate launched through Amref and MOH channels including being additive to the current “Pata Chanjo, Kaa Chonjo” campaign.

Notably, some African countries, like South Africa or Morocco are still waiting for large swaths of their allotted vaccines. Populous countries in Asia – some of which have received big allotments – are also waiting for huge amounts of life-saving vaccines, among them Indonesia and Pakistan.
Nigeria, Colombia and Ukraine are among the countries faring about average in COVAX deliveries, while the Philippines or Rwanda have had their allotments filled to a larger degree so far.
