Today, October 24, is World Polio Day 2017, and we have so much to celebrate! In 1988, there were over 350,000 cases of polio in 125 countries around the world. Through collaboration of international and national NGOs, governments, and civil society, we have now nearly eradicated polio, with only a dozen cases so far this year in just 3 countries.
For almost 20 years, the CORE Group Polio Project (CGPP) has played a significant role in this incredible progress and success. The CGPP is a multi-country, multi-partner initiative providing financial support and on-the-ground technical guidance and support to strengthen host country efforts to eradicate polio.
