As a leader in nutrition globally, the U.S. government is committed to enhancing health, productivity, and human potential through improved nutrition. In 2016, U.S. government agencies working on domestic and global nutrition released the U.S. Government Global Nutrition Coordination Plan to harness the diverse nutrition investments across the government, and to increase inter-agency communication, collaboration, and research-sharing to catalyze progress towards the 2025 Global Nutrition Targets and other global goals.
Now, two years into implementation, this webinar presented how U.S. Government agencies are enhancing coordinated action through the Coordination Plan. Yibo Wood and Diane DeBernardo from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Anne Peniston from USAID’s Bureau for Global Health gave background on the Coordination Plan’s formation and objectives, described progress made in its first two years of implementation, and gave insight into future plans to further strengthen collective nutrition action across the government.
