The Progress out of Poverty Index (PPI) is a practitioner-friendly poverty measurement tool for organizations whose missions are to serve the poor. The PPI leverages the responses to 10 questions about a household’s characteristics and asset ownership and computes the likelihood that the household is living below the poverty line – or above by only a narrow margin. With the PPI, organizations can identify people who are most likely to be poor or vulnerable to poverty using any of the most used poverty lines. Currently, there are surveys for 60 countries around the world.
