Since 2010, Action Contre la Faim and a scientific committee led by a small group of researchers (Tufts, IRD, WFP) and technical experts have collaborated to develop a methodology to analyze the complex, dynamic, locally-specific causes of undernutrition.
The Link NCA methodology for Nutrition Causal Analysis is a mixed-methods, structured, participatory methodology. Community-level qualitative enquiry sheds light on context-specific causes of undernutrition, and looks at local mechanisms and pathways.
The goal of the methodology is to identify the most relevant factors leading to under nutrition in a specific context to improve nutrition security programming.
To date 16 studies have been carried out and 12 more are planned or ongoing by ACF, as well as by other actors). The overview, detailed guidelines and stud reports are available on a website: www.linknca.org
