TIME

LOCATION
Hertog Conference Room, 1875 Connecticut Ave NW, #520, Washington, D.C., 20009

For decades, skilled social and behavior change communication practitioners have created and used groundbreaking media in their work, demonstrating real results. But what about the off-the-shelf documentary films found at film festivals, PBS, cable, and elsewhere? Can they be used to boost targeted development goals even though they weren’t designed for that purpose? What would it take to make these ready-made films an effective, affordable, scalable addition to toolkits for social and behavior change?

In this hands-on workshop, Independent Television Service (iTVS) will share tested models, content, and hands-on facilitation training from a five-year documentary development and community engagement project that helped practitioners address gender equality, gender-based violence, child empowerment, and leadership in Kenya, India, and Jordan. Participants will learn ways to incorporate ready-made documentary films into existing interventions to expand reach, spark breakthrough conversations, and boost outcomes.

Interested in attending? Please express your interest here. Preference will be given to individuals working on or experienced with social and behavior change communication, community engagement, and/or training and facilitation. Space is limited to 25 people, so indicate your interest to attend no later than April 9.
