CORE Group & Project Hope Celebrates World Health Day

On April 7, the world comes together to celebrate World Health Day 2025—a time to reflect on the critical importance of maternal and newborn health. This year’s theme, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” launches a year-long campaign calling on governments, health systems, and communities to accelerate efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths and to prioritize women’s long-term health and well-being.

CORE Group, in collaboration with Project HOPE, is proud to co-lead this campaign—bringing together resources, expertise, and networks to drive meaningful action. Tragically, nearly 300,000 women lose their lives due to pregnancy or childbirth each year, and more than 4 million babies die before or shortly after birth. These are preventable losses that underscore the urgent need for stronger, more responsive health systems that provide quality care before, during, and after birth. This includes addressing obstetric complications as well as mental health, noncommunicable diseases, and access to family planning.

Together, we are committed to strengthening community health efforts, amplifying knowledge, mobilizing resources, and equipping communities with the tools needed to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes worldwide.
