Launch of USAID Vision for Health System Strengthening 2030
USAID
The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the need for country governments and development partners to mobilize a whole-of-society approach to address the challenges faced by country health systems. To do so, a common vision is needed that ensures the resilience of health systems and advances preventive, promotive, and curative care.
USAID’s new Vision for Health System Strengthening 2030 frames the collaborative effort between public health, communities, and health care institutions that is required to improve health. It outlines a shift in focus from strengthening individual, often siloed functions of the health system to a focus on intermediate outcomes, which USAID defines as equity, quality, and resource optimization. Together with partners, USAID and PATH are hosting a discussion with public health leaders to understand how communities, local governments, private sector, and health organizations can work collaboratively to build more resilient health systems and learn from progress toward achieving this Vision. |
