Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women: A Guide to Measurement

Wednesday, April 13, 2016
Hosted by CORE Group's Nutrition Working Group

In the last few years, there has been rising interest in and use of dietary diversity indicators, which provide one relatively simple proxy measure for micronutrient density or adequacy of diets. Recently, the Food and Agriculture Organization and USAID’s Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance III Project have supported development of a new indicator and guide: Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women: A Guide to Measurement. The guide is available at the FAO and FANTA websites.

During this webinar, one of the guide authors, Mary Arimond (UC Davis), introduced the guide. Her presentation covered the background/rationale for food group diversity indicators, the contents of the new guide, and the uses and limitations of the new indicator.
