Official Nutrition for Growth Summit Side Event: An integrated approach to immunisation and nutrition

This event, co-hosted by the Government of Japan, the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement and Gavi, will mark the launch of the GAVI-SUN Movement joint initiative towards an integrated approach to immunisation and nutrition.
It is being held as an official side event of the Nutrition for Growth Summit and will bring key multistakeholder leaders together to advance this approach, including Gerda Verburg, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General / SUN Coordinator and Anuradha Gupta, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Gavi, who will launch the GAVI-SUN joint policy brief and initiative.
Background:
A wealth of evidence stresses that immunisation and nutrition interventions complement each other, and thus integrating the two could lead to better health outcomes, maximise efficiency gains and reach more people. Stronger integration is also a critical step for building more responsive primary health care (PHC) systems. Ultimately, efforts to reach zero-dose children and their communities with routine immunisation and key nutrition services have the potential to break the cycle of malnutrition and preventable diseases.
