The USAID Health Research Program invites you to a webinar on November 18th at 7:30-9:00 a.m. EST to highlight the use of implementation research to strengthen referral networks for obstetric and newborn emergencies to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes. The webinar will feature USAID’s Acute Care and Emergency Referral Systems project in Ghana, which established Emergency Dispatch Centers to strengthen communication between community and district level health facilities to refer and transport individuals needing emergency care. This event will also feature the Kampala Slum Maternal and Newborn Health project in Uganda, which created a public-private emergency transportation system and strengthened the referral networks for maternal and newborn care in Kampala’s informal settlements. Lessons learned and recommendations by both projects will be shared for those stakeholders seeking to strengthen referral systems in other low or middle income countries.
