Driven by evidence, in 2014 PEPFAR began the innovative DREAMS program to reduce the rates of HIV infections among adolescent girls in Sub-Saharan Africa. From the outset, PEPFAR recognized the need for a holistic gender approach that addressed young women’s lower status and lack of decision making power. Topics like gender-based violence, child marriage and girls education had to be part of the fight. This event will feature the exciting results from the field and discuss how an integrated gender approach has produced results for DREAMS and other important programs.
