The lack of WASH services in healthcare facilities disproportionately affects women, both as healthcare workers and patients. With women making up 70% of the world’s health workforce, what WASH services do they require when they work in a healthcare facility? When women and girls visit the healthcare facility, what WASH needs do they have? What does it mean to ensure safe WASH services for expectant mothers?

This session will include an overview of gender & WASH in the healthcare setting, as well as a panel discussion with speakers from UNICEF, WHO SEARO, White Ribbon Alliance, and Ghana Health Services on how we adapt and develop WASH in healthcare facility programming and policies which are inclusive and equitable through a gender-responsive approach.

Whether you are an implementer, researcher, or policymaker, join us to hear from those leading the charge on gender-responsive WASH in HCF and reflect on your own work in this space.
