Karen LeBan, CORE Group Executive Director, and Judy Lewis, CORE Group Board of Directors Chair presented on “Innovative Approaches to Achieve Primary Health Care Outcomes” at the 14th World Congress on Public Health.
The Congress was jointly hosted by the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) and the Indian Public Health Association (IPHA). The Congress focused on “Healthy People – Healthy Environment” and brought together thousands of participants from over 100 countries across a wide range of public health disciplines. The Congress resulted in a declaration to “take urgent action to mitigate environmental conditions that are contributing to the deaths and diseases of millions of inhabitants of our small planet.”
The community health panel addressed effective methodologies for improving equity, achieving primary health care coverage and increasing civil society engagement and accountability—all of which are required for sustainable development. In addition to Karen and Judy, panelists included Tom Davis of Feed the Children, Janine Schooley of PCI Global, and Dennis Cherian of World Vision.
