In support of the World TB Day 2012 spotlight on Pediatric TB, CORE Group’s Tuberculosis Working Group presented three webinars from world leaders in the fight against pediatric TB.
The final in the series was presented by Dr. Shelly Batra, President of OperationASHA. She spoke about her organization, which is dedicated to bringing tuberculosis treatment and health services to the poorest of the poor in India’s urban slums and rural villages. OperationASHA is also India’s largest NGO in tuberculosis treatment and prevention. Dr. Batra will share why they do what they do, OperationASHA’s model, and why their model works. She will discuss how their biometrics help with adherence to the DOTS program, including active case detection, how they find children in families to be tested, and also how they recommend preventative treatment for children living with sick parents/relatives.
Dr. Batra is a renowned Senior Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Advanced Laparoscopy Surgeon, and a best-selling author in Delhi. Since 1991, she has been providing free consultations, counseling, and operations to sick patients free of charge with a team of specialists.
