Transform Nutrition is a consortium of five international research and development partners funded by the UK Department for International Development. Its aim is to help stakeholders in the most-affected countries – policy-makers, civil society and business leaders – to use quality research to address undernutrition. Two researchers who, as part of the Transform Nutrition consortium, have carried out research on different aspects of undernutrition will present findings in this webinar.

John Hoddinott, from Cornell University, will review the research landscape surrounding chronic undernutrition and the implications for nutrition sensitive interventions. This presentation will draw heavily on work undertaken for DFID by the Transform Nutrition Research Consortium.

Nick Nisbett, from the Institute for Development Studies (IDS), will explore the process and results of a major mixed-methods evaluation led by IDS which measured child nutrition outcomes in three DFID livelihoods programmes – the Chars Livelihoods Programme, Shiree/EEP and the Urban Partnerships for Poverty Reduction Programme (UPPR).  The evaluation raises questions about the appropriate package of interventions to tackle the underlying and immediate causes of undernutrition; as well as thorny issues relating to implementation of community based behavioural change interventions.’
