This is a remote eligible position and can work from any international location that JSI has a presence in, or from a variety of U.S. states (where JSI R&T is registered).

JSI is a public health consulting and research organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world. JSI is seeking an SBC Senior Advisor to serve as an expert technical authority on social and behavior change programming on a range of practice areas in global public health across several projects and countries.

The SBC Senior Advisor will be responsible for providing overall strategic and technical guidance for SBC to ensure JSI’s SBC project strategies and activities are people-centered, innovative, and evidence-based. They will serve as an in-house thought leader for JSI international programs to ensure Behavior Integration is effectively implemented throughout our work.

This position will report to the Director of JSI’s Behavior Initiative; a new strategic investment by JSI to accelerate the application of behavioral science across our entire portfolio and advance our SBC programming within projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Master’s degree and 15+ years of experience designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating social and behavior change interventions in multiple countries and preferably in multiple practice areas. - Formal training in and demonstrated understanding of theories and frameworks relating to behavior change or behavioral science more broadly, the evidence base for SBC interventions and best practices, and familiarity with the current research and evaluation literature. - Experience in designing and implementing SBC programming in at least two of the following practice areas: immunization, HIV and infectious diseases, MNCH, SRH, nutrition, supply chain/logistics, and health systems strengthening. Experience with client/consumer, provider and community-level change programs. - Experience with international donor projects required, experience with USAID strongly preferred. - Demonstrated problem solving skills. - Demonstrated use of behavioral science in development and implementation of past programs, including social science research, human centered design, and use of social science insights in programming. - Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills in English. Other languages are a plus. - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, including cross-cultural teams. - Mentoring, capacity building and facilitation skills for improving SBC programming. - Ability to work in a high pressure, fast turn around environment with concurrent project demands and limited supervision. - Ability to travel internationally up to 20% time.
