Senior Technical Advisor
The Eleanor Crook Foundation (ECF) seeks a Senior Technical Advisor consultant to advise on strategy, program design, monitoring, and evaluation aspects of the Foundation’s international nutrition grantmaking. Supporting the Executive Director and working closely with the Program Officer for Nutrition Research, the Senior Technical Advisor will help the foundation determine a long-term organizational strategy, develop Requests for Applications (RFAs) for ECF’s nutrition implementation portfolios, help guide funding decisions, design foundation monitoring and evaluation systems, and provide ongoing high-level technical assistance to ECF-funded nutrition projects.
The Eleanor Crook Foundation is a growing US-based philanthropy committed to research, capacity building, and advocacy to end global malnutrition. The foundation is committed to investing at least $100 million in global nutrition by 2030.
Through its flagship RISE for Nutrition grants program, ECF partners with NGOs and universities to conduct rigorous implementation research in East Africa. Through RISE, ECF supports innovative approaches to improving nutrition outcomes at scale. RISE projects seek to build up the nutrition evidence base and test project hypotheses in real-world implementation settings.
ECF also promotes a hands-on approach to local capacity building through tailored technical training and direct funding for local East African organizations to implement high-quality nutrition programs in their own communities. The foundation provides funding and capacity building to local organizations primarily through its Uganda Grassroots Nutrition (UGN) program. UGN was founded in 2016 in partnership with the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. This grant program supports a new network of local, Northern Ugandan NGOs that are working to address the immediate causes of undernutrition in their communities. In addition to receiving funding to carry out high-quality nutrition programs, all UGN grantees receive essential training and ongoing technical support on program design, implementation, nutrition science, and monitoring and evaluation.
ECF seeks the services of an experienced consultant to provide ongoing strategic technical guidance for RISE, UGN, and ECF’s other implementation and implementation research investments. The consultant must be willing to commit 50-60% of her or his time to the position. After an initial 3-month trial period, contracts will be renewed on a 6-month basis. ECF is based in Austin, TX, with offices in Raleigh, NC and Washington, DC. The foundation is able to offer remote work and flexible hours for this consultancy position.
