Job Description:
The Senior Director, Food, Nutrition & Livelihoods Security (FNLS) is responsible for leading and growing PCI’s work and reputation in FNLS. The Senior Director is accountable for expanding quality FNLS programming, consistent with our mission and strategic priorities. S/he will represent PCI to our key donors and will engage in appropriate DC and international networks and forums for optimal visibility, positioning and thought leadership. The Senior Director will identify, pursue, and lead the process of securing strategic FNLS growth opportunities both with existing donors, and with new and non-traditional donors and investors, including the private sector. S/he will build networks and create strategic alliances/partnerships in support of robust FNLS program growth, including those related to documentation, research and contribution to the state-of-the-art. Specific areas of focus are integrated food and nutrition security, climate-smart agriculture, nutrition-friendly agriculture and the development of market-focused livelihoods. Expanding PCI’s FNLS portfolio will be achieved in coordination with other key technical sectors (Humanitarian Assistance and Resilience, Health and Nutrition), key cross-cutting areas (Gender/Women Empowered, Local Capacity Strengthening, Strategic Information for Impact, Innovation), as well as the New Business Development Unit (NBDU) and Development Department. The Senior Director will work closely with the Deputy Director, FNLS to oversee and manage the FNLS Unit, and will coordinate closely with other units and departments at the International Office (IO) as well as with.in-country project implementation teams.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications: •Advanced degree (Masters/PhD) preferably in the food and nutrition security, agriculture (including livestock), agri-business, livelihoods and/or international development fields. •Minimum of 12 years of progressive technical and field-based programmatic experience, with an emphasis on FNLS programming within an international development organization. •Demonstrated leadership capacity, including leading proposal preparation teams, strategic planning processes and thought leadership efforts. •Demonstrated ability to provide strategic guidance, prioritization and direction setting for a comprehensive FNLS portfolio. •Recognized as a leader in the field of FNLS. •Strong program design and proposal writing skills, including use of theory of change and related approaches, and experience leading major USG funding proposals, with USAID Food for Peace DFAP experience preferred. •Experience working and networking with USG and international donors, such as USAID, USDA, other bilateral development agencies, multi-lateral development banks, United Nations agencies, foundations, and corporate philanthropies. •Comprehensive understanding of FNLS approaches, including climate-smart agriculture, nutrition-friendly agriculture, market-led livelihoods, nutrition and ongoing international development issues related to FNLS focus areas. •Knowledge and experience of cash and voucher programming in both development and emergency environments highly desirable. •Development philosophy in keeping with PCI’s mission, vision, core values and approach to integrated, community-driven programming. •Experience working with international food security-related research organizations (e.g. IFPRI, Agrilinks, CGIAR, universities, etc.) •Experience in the application of cross-cutting technical expertise areas such as behavior change communications, social norm shifting, local capacity strengthening, community mobilization, etc. to FNLS. •Strong understanding of and commitment to the implementation of gender equity programming related to FNLS. •Exceptional communication and representational skills, including oral, written, and public speaking. •Experience leading multi-lingual, multi-cultural staff. •Excellent capacity strengthening, team building/management, and coordination skills. •Proven capacity to innovate and inspire innovation in colleagues. •Experience living and working in the developing world. •Native English skills essential. •Fluency in Spanish or French strongly preferred. •Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office suite.
