JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an analytical, dynamic and self-starter Nutrition and Food Systems Specialist to join the Market and Food Systems team within ACDI/VOCA’s Technical Learning and Application Division. This person will provide nutrition-sensitive technical guidance and support to agriculture, market and food systems projects and proposals. The Nutrition and Food Systems Specialist will report to Senior Technical Director, Market Systems. NOTE: This position will NOT include work on nutrition-specific or MCHN related topics.

Integration of Technical Specialty into Projects: Act as technical resource for integrating nutrition-sensitive agriculture and food systems development strategies and activities across ACDI/VOCA projects and partners. Build capacity of project teams to implement ACDI/VOCA’s nutrition-sensitive agriculture approach, including conducting food environment analyses, designing nutrition-sensitive activities with local market and food system actors, and providing on-going mentoring and technical guidance.

New Business: Provide technical guidance and leadership to new business teams for nutrition-sensitive agriculture and food systems. Act as a lead technical nutrition-sensitive agriculture and food systems contributor, writer and/or reviewer on technical proposals as appropriate.

Learning and Tools: Contribute to technical learning both within ACDI/VOCA and for external audiences. Develop, standardize, and roll out resources and tools. Analyze primary and secondary data using appropriate methods, write insightful products for diverse audiences, including research reports, white papers, and other outputs, such as learning briefs and reader-friendly blogs.

Internal Collaboration: Promote collaboration across the organization and with field offices. Organize, facilitate and/or participate in working groups/Communities of Practice with participants from TLA and Project Management, around relevant technical topics.

External Outreach: Promote ACDI/VOCA’s image as a learning organization. Participate in and present at international, domestic and local meetings, workshops and conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications include a Masters of Public Health, a Master’s Degree in international development or agriculture with nutrition focus, or related degree. Minimum of 5 years’ experience, including overseas work, in international development or related field required. Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in nutrition-sensitive agriculture and/or food systems. Experience supporting food security, agricultural, or gender and/or social behavior change projects and activities. Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods and conducting field-based assessments required. Experience conducting nutrition analyses/assessments and trainings for US and overseas audiences preferred. Fluency in French is preferred. Excellent writing and communication skills in English for writing proposals, reports, and papers. Excellent analytical and technical skills and expertise with the ability to work independently. Strong interpersonal and team skills, with ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. International travel required (approximately 25%).
