CORE Group is looking for an immediate consultancy to oversee the organization’s internal and external knowledge management (KM) and communications functions. The KM and Communications Team  strengthens knowledge-sharing and communications between CORE Group, its membership and the broader International Community Health Network, advocates for key community health activities and messages, and demonstrates CORE Group’s value and impact in the field.

The KM and Communications Consultant will primarily work on coordination and facilitation of quarterly HANSHEP Meetings and bi-weekly COVID-19 Global Response Coordination Calls. The consultant will also review the current implementation plan for CORE Group’s KM and Communications Strategy and lead efforts to carry out related activities.

This position will report to the Executive Director and will work with the Communications and KM Associate and the KM and Communications Intern.

The duration of the consultancy is for one (1) month with the ability to extend.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the HANSHEP Secretariat consortium
    • Coordinate, organize and manage bi-monthly teleconferences and quarterly 1 to 2-day meetings (in-person and virtual participants). The next in-person meeting will be Week of April 13, 2020. Responsibilities include:
      • Work with the Secretariat team to organize logistics (location booking, arranging travel for guest speakers, ensuring appropriate technology for virtual participants, etc.)
      • Collaborate with HANSHEP chair and members to create agendas
      • Design events that promote engagement for in-person and virtual participation
      • Liaise with speakers to convey presentation parameters and expectations
      • Manage the overall execution of the meeting
      • Review notes and write-up meeting reports as needed
      • Other duties as needed
    • Meet regularly with the HANSHEP chair and members to identify opportunities for secretariat involvement.
    • Provide knowledge management expertise to guide HANSHEP on decisions regarding its website, use of listservs and other technologies to effectively communicate within the group and share knowledge and products with external stakeholders.
  • Manage CORE Group’s COVID-19 Global Response Coordination Calls
    • CORE Group is convening members and partners to discuss their institutional positions vis-à-vis COVID-19 in an effort to coordinate and support the global response.
    • Coordinate, organize and manage bi-weekly teleconferences with the COVID-19 Global Response Coordination Team, with responsibilities:
      • Work with the team to organize logistics
      • Collaborate with co-chair and guest speakers to create agendas and
      • Manage the overall execution of the meeting
      • Take notes and write-up follow-up summaries
      • Other duties as needed
  • Oversee the implementation of CORE Group’s KM and Communications Strategy
    • Review CORE Group’s KM and Communications Strategy and its implementation plan to prioritize activities for carry out.
    • Conduct regular monitoring and annual evaluation of communications and knowledge management inputs, outputs and outcomes and adjust the strategy as needed.

Secondary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, update, and disseminate CORE Group knowledge products and communications materials.
    • Review the draft content and oversee the design of CORE Group’s 2019 Annual Report
  • Provide communications and KM support on grants, projects, and global partnerships
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four (4) years’ relevant working experience in the communications and/or knowledge management fields. Experience working in a non-profit and non-governmental setting.
  • Master of Public Health or related advanced degree (international development) preferred. Familiarity and/or experience working in global health or other international development sectors preferred.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to capture, synthesize, and present programming and organizational successes and lessons learned. Demonstrated ability to convey messages through clear and concise writing.
  • Proven facilitation and collaboration skills working with multi-level stakeholders, including technical and subject matter experts, donor agencies, researchers and others
  • Experience with webinars and online learning platforms. Adobe Connect experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Premiere). Graphic design and data visualization experience a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm and organized under pressure.
  • Experience in supervising contractors and/or interns.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Fluency in written English.
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish a plus.
  • Creativity, independence, and entrepreneurial spirit encouraged.
