In support of these efforts and the PEPFAR goal to end the HIV epidemic, the Biomedical Prevention Branch seeks an Intern who will support USAID’s development and implementation of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) for HIV prevention. S/he will support USAID with coordination of Safety and Quality Assurance for VMMC and other biomedical prevention services. S/he will support planning and implementation of program quality assessments and continuous quality improvement work of VMMC programs, s/he will support monitoring and analysis of USAID’s Adverse Events database. The Intern will also support the team in planning for VMMC program sustainability and local partner ownership.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Currently enrolled masters or other post-bachelor’s degree candidate or completion of such within the past 12 months.
  • Experience with HIV programs as well as experience either studying or implementing HIV programs with a strong interest in learning about VMMC and biomedical prevention.
  • Ability to analyze data from different sources/databases.
  • Ability to create data visuals and/or use GIS data.
  • Demonstrated innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation and team building skills, and ability to work cross-culturally with diverse teams.
  • Ability to participate in a 1-2-week field experience.
  • US citizenship or US permanent residency required.
