The Director, Human Trafficking Prevention provides overall vision, external representation, and management of PCI’s human trafficking prevention program. The Director leads the continued growth of the human trafficking prevention portfolio in San Diego, while positioning the organization to expand its programs nationally (and internationally as appropriate). The Director will work closely with the CEO and Development and Marketing and Communications teams to publicly represent PCI’s preventing human trafficking (PHT), while ensuring strict adherence to ethical, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed principles. The Director will have substantive programmatic experience and in-depth knowledge of human trafficking and/or other relevant social and rights-based issues such as gender-based violence.
The Director cultivates high value relationships with a wide variety of external stakeholders in San Diego and beyond, including Office of the District Attorney, individual philanthropists, the business community, and foundations. The Director will also participate in advocacy work and represent PCI at various anti-trafficking committees and coalitions, ensuring that PCI’s profile and reputation is enhanced within the global anti-human trafficking community.
The Director also oversees the design and implementation of high-quality human trafficking and sexual exploitation prevention programming and supervises a San Diego-based program team, which includes senior managers of Project Roots and the E3 Business Alliance. The position of Director, Human Trafficking Prevention will be based in the PCI San Diego office(s) and will work under the supervision of Senior VP for Programs.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Management (35%)
Provide oversight to human trafficking prevention programming at PCI, including Project Roots, the E3 business alliance, and public awareness education
Provide fiscal oversight for PCI’s human trafficking prevention programs
In partnership with the M&E team, develop tools to monitor and evaluate the outcomes of PCI’s trafficking prevention programs and activities, including the collection, analysis and utilization of monitoring and evaluation data
On behalf of PCI, manage the joint work of the Prevention Collective (i.e. coordinate with donor and implementing partners, ensure effectiveness of M&E system, lead biannual reporting process, oversee subgrants and deliverables)
Set technical direction for the organization related to trafficking prevention, directly and through supervision of staff and consultants
Ensure quality design and implementation of technical approaches and assessments across the portfolio, and lead the conceptualization of new projects and activities
Ensure all programs, communications, and materials are culturally appropriate, gender-responsive, and survivor-centered
Supervise the Sr. Program Officer for Project Roots and the Sr. Manager for the E3 Business Alliance
Ensure timely inputs and quality of donor reports, working closely with the Senior Director of Gender & Empowerment and M&E department, and other teams as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned
Resource Mobilization (30%)
Lead new business development for the human trafficking prevention portfolio, including but not limited to:
Outreach for E3 business alliance membership and philanthropic donations
Meetings with prospective donors
Documentation of best practices and cape statements for positioning
Develop marketing materials in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Department
Position PCI for future funding opportunities through representation in strategic working groups and by speaking at key events
External Relations (25%)
Develop partnerships with local, national and international stakeholders dedicated to anti-human trafficking efforts
Represent PCI in coalitions and other relevant fora
Write, publish and present on PCI’s human trafficking-related experience, research, and project outcomes in media and journals, public dialogues, conferences, workshops, etc.
Provide content and guidance for PHT public awareness education carried out by PCI
Organizational Leadership (10%)
Provide or coordinate training and technical assistance to staff and partners on human trafficking to strengthen PCI’s capacity globally
Ensure that PCI’s anti-trafficking work is carried out in strict adherence with ethical standards for working with vulnerable populations and survivors
Collaborate with the People and Culture Department to ensure institutional compliance on PCI’s TIP policy
